Cumulus QSFP-100G-AOC-7M compatible Active Optical Cable (AOC) as a 100 Gigabit variant, with QSFP28 to QSFP28 connection, for connecting hardware within racks and across adjacent racks. BlueOptics Cumulus QSFP-100G-AOC-7M compatible QSFP28
Compared to Direct Attach Twinaxial Cable solutions (DAC), the hot-pluggable Active Optical Cables are more flexible and lighter. The QSFP28 to QSFP28 meter connectors have a built-in E/O and O/E converter that converts the electrical signal into an optical signal. This signal is converted back to an electrical signal and output at the other end of the Active Optical Cable. The connection can be made to supporting hardware with QSFP28 to QSFP28 ports.
The QSFP28 to QSFP28 meter transceiver connections of each Active Optical Cable are manufactured according to MSA standards, taking into account the SFF and IEEE specifications. Active Optical Cables have better performance, a smaller bending radius, and a smaller diameter compared to Direct Attach Twinaxial Cable solutions.
