With this Mini-SAS adapter, you can convert two internal SFF-8643 ports on a controller card into two external SFF-8644 ports. This allows you to connect external SAS or SATA drives, for example, in DAS devices (Direct Attached Storage) with an internal backplane or a SAS controller, providing additional storage.
The adapter can be connected to up to eight drives and is compatible with 12 Gbit/s SAS drives as well as 6 Gbit/s SATA drives. For installation in small form factor computers, the adapter also features a low-profile bracket.
